Following the departure of PCB chief Ramiz Raja, the newly formed PCB management committee has hit the ground running, having shown the door to chief selector Mohammad Wasim on Friday. All committees constituted during the previous government have also been disbanded by the committee led by former PCB chairman Najam Sethi. Former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Wasim, who played in 18 Test matches for his country, was chosen as the chief selector for the national team in December 2020. He recently drafted Pakistan’s Test squad for this month’s home series against New Zealand. He was anticipated to stay in his position until the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, but he was told to leave in an email from the Najam Sethi-led committee on April 1.
“We are going to disband all committees today because they were constituted under the 2019 constitution that has been revoked and shall reconstitute them under the new SRO,” Sethi was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. “I don’t know whether there is a need to make changes in the squad, we will see if fresh ideas are required. It would have been better if the squad had not been announced,” he added.

Former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja was fired after the Test team performed poorly in the recently finished series against England. Najam Sethi, the previous chair of the PCB, was reinstated as part of a 14-member committee appointed by Pakistani Prime Minister and PCB patron-in-chief Shehbaz Sharif. The newly formed committee has been granted 120 days to reinstate the 2014 PCB constitution, which will replace the 2019 constitution, which was introduced after Imran Khan was appointed Prime Minister. The committee will nominate a new chairman and appoint a board of governors in the coming days as part of the current restructuring.
