On Sunday, October 30, Pakistan and the Netherlands will square off against each other. In the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan and Netherlands have both lost their games. One team will open their account and maintain their flimsy chances of making the semifinals. The Babar Azam-led team has lost two heart-pounding games against Zimbabwe and India. They controlled both matches, but they messed up towards the end. Pakistan cannot afford to lose any more games since they risk being formally eliminated from the campaign for the semifinals if they do.
The Azam-led team must also triumph by a big margin because the net run rate might be a factor. The team’s batting has been shaky, especially in light of Azam and Rizwan’s top-order failures in the first two games. Neither have the middle-order hitters surged towards the end nor closed the innings. Only Iftikhar Ahmed has looked good. Pakistan’s middle order must perform well if they are to achieve a big score but that won’t be easy against the Dutch who have been very good with the ball throughout their journey so far.
