Mumbai Indians will lock horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wandhade Stadium in the 22nd match of the Indian Premier League. The Mumbai Indians got off to a disastrous start to their IPL 2023 campaign, they lost the first match to Royal Challengers Bangalore. They lost their 2nd match as well against Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets. MI bounced back well, securing a six-wicket victory in a thrilling encounter against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. Tilak Varma has been the pick of the batters for MI but he hasn’t got much support from the others. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan will look to change their fortunes around in this fixture. Rohit Sharma will miss this fixture because of a stomach bug and Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in his absence.

KKR started their campaign with a heart-breaking seven-run defeat to Punjab Kings, but were quick to bounce back, defeating RCB by 81 runs in their next game. Rinku Singh smashed five consecutive sixes against GT and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. KKR are coming into this match on the back of a loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR’s batting unit has done a fantastic job, but the KKR bowlers haven’t quite lived up to the expectations, conceding more than 200 runs in back-to-back matches.

Pitch

The pitch at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai has traditionally supported spin bowling. The batters have found it easy to get quick runs against spinners at this venue. The ball might do a little bit for the fast bowlers in the initial stages of the match as well, but it will get easier to bat as the match progresses. The batters need to get their eye in before going for the aggressive shots. The team winning the toss would be inclined to bowl first at this venue and chase the score down in the second innings with some dew expected.
