Starting on Wednesday, Karnataka will meet Saurashtra in the second semi-final of the Ranji Trophy 2022/23. Karnataka advanced to the Semi-Finals after defeating Uttarakhand by an inning and 281 runs in the second Quarter-Final. Saurashtra advanced to the last four after a hard-fought 71-run triumph over Punjab in the third quarter-final. Karnataka gets the advantage of hosting the knockout matches because they won their Group. It turned out to be a godsend for them because they were all over Uttarakhand in the second quarter-final and won by an inning and 281 runs with a day left. M Venkatesh, making his first-class debut, took 7 wickets, including a five-fer in the first innings.

The seasoned Shreyas Gopal transformed the game’s dynamics with his all-around skill, hitting 161* runs and taking three wickets. Ravikumar Samarth and Mayank Agarwal’s opening combo is doing wonders for them by continuously chipping in with solid foundations. Nikin Jose, a rookie batter, has established a name for himself this season, scoring 420 runs in 8 games. The pace battery of Vidwath Kaverappa, Vyshak Vijaykumar, and M Venkatesh is set to replicate their Quarter-Finals performance in this encounter.

Saurashtra are buzzing following a 71-run triumph over Punjab in the third quarter-final. Despite the absence of Jaydev Unadkat, they performed admirably as a unit to earn this position. Parth Bhut’s all-around heroics grabbed the show. They hunt in packs and do not rely on a single player, making them a unique side in Indian domestic cricket. They have a dominating record against Karnataka, having won three of their last five meetings. Arpit Vasavada has scored the most runs for the team, while specialist spinner Dharmendrasinh Jadeja has taken 37 wickets. Both teams have a lot of quality, therefore we can expect a nice game of cricket between them.
