Here’s a look at the probable playing XIs of both the teams as Match 23 of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicks off.

Chennai Super Kings

Ruturaj Gaikwad: The young CSK opener scored a brilliant 42-ball 64 in the team’s win against KKR and followed it up with a 33 off 25 against RCB in the previous game. He is most likely to be retained for the remaining games this season.

Faf du Plessis: The most consistent batsman for CSK this season, Faf will be an automatic pick for CSK as their games moves to Delhi. His 60-ball unbeaten 95 against KKR stands out in this IPL.

Suresh Raina: The MVP in the Chennai squad, Suresh Raina, adds value to the side with his experience and safe pair of hands. His catch of Navdeep Saini in the last game was yet another testimony to his expertise.

Ambati Rayudu: If the top-order has a bad field day, CSK have a saviour in Ambati Rayudu wo builds solidifying partnerships and also adds value in chases for CSK. He is yet another automatic choice in the first XI.

Ravindra Jadeja: RCB’s Harshal Patel was at the receiving end of Ravindra Jadeja’s blitzkreig in the last match, wherein he smashed 37 runs off the last over, and scored a match-winning unbeaten 62 off 28. To add to it were his exceptional show on the field and his 3/13 in CSK’s win. He will once again be the key for CSK in Wednesday’s match.

MS Dhoni (C/WK): The captain of the CSK side is known for his leadership across the IPL and the Indian cricket team. Dhoni will be looking to take his team back to the top position, wherein RCB is currently standing.

Sam Curran: For pinch-hitting or for quality pace bowling, CSK has turned to Sam Curran several times. While he didn’t have a good outing in the last two games, Curran will be a part of the playing XI and a lot of eyes will be on him.

Deepak Chahar: His match-winning performance against KKR, wherein Chahar bagged a match-winning 4-29, shows the value the pacer adds to the CSK side. Chahar is yet another automatic choice in CSK’s first playing XI as they take on SRH on Wednesday.

Shardul Thakur: A bad outing against KKR was followed up by an economical performance in the game against RCB, by just conceding 11 runs and bagging one wicket in his 4 overs, and will be one of the key players for CSK as they take on SRH.

Imran Tahir: Tahir was chose over Moeen Ali, the X-factor for Chennai, in the previous game against RCB. The 40-year-old is once again expected to take on SRH on Wednesday. CSK played

Lungi Ngidi: As Dwayne Bravo was seen struggling in the game against RCB, CSK would want the South African quick to be back in the XI after his 3/28 against KKR.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner (Cap): Captain David Warner would be eyeing to elevate SRH from the last position, where they are standing currently, especially after the team lost the Super Over.

Jonny Bairstow (wk): The Sunrisers Hyderbad opener scored a swift 18-ball 38 against Delhi Capitals in the last game. He has been in great form since the white-ball leg of the bilateral series against India.

Kane Williamson: SRH finally turned to the New Zealand captain in the match against Punjab Kings against the Hyderbad-based franchise embraced their only win so far in IPL 2021. It was, in fcat, Williamson’s 51-ball 66* against DC that took SRH to the Super Over.

Vijay Shankar: With the top three batsmen exhausting three out of four overseas options, SRH will go for Vijay Shankar as their all-rounder option in the match against CSK.

Abhishek Sharma: The left-handed pinch-hitter is a value addition for SRH against CSK as he brings in the option of legspin and can bowl alongside T20 great Rashid Khan.

Abdul Samad: SRH have been missing a finisher in their games and this is the right game to turn to the young power-hitter who can change things around when the team needs him.

Rashid Khan: The Afghanistan legspinner is an automatic choice in any T20 XI across the world with the kind of high quality spin he brings to the side. On his good days, which are quite frequent, he is a strong match-up for most high-profile batsmen.

Jagadeesha Suchith: The Karnataka spinner and lower middle-order batsman showed his class in the previous game wherein he partnered with Kane Williamson under pressure and only missed to take SRH to a victory by a small margin.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: The key pacer for India and SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will once again need to stand up for his team and help them rise above the ranks from the last spot.
