IPL 2021 cancellation: A PIL was filed in the Bombay High Court seeking direction to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to cancel or postpone IPL 2021. This has come after many players in the IPL 2021 bio-bubble have tested positive for COVID-19. The petitioner says the resources that are being used in the IPL can be easily used to help the COVID19 patients.

The High Court is expected to hear the matter on Thursday, reported ANI.

This PIL has been filed after a similar one was filed in the Delhi HC. Mumbai HC has agreed to hear the appeal, wires agency ANI reported.

This year’s IPL reached its halfway mark. However, yesterday’s match between KKR and RCB, which was to be played in Ahmedabad was postponed after players from KKR tested positive for the virus.

IPL 2021 Cancellation: Players test Positive in the IPL bio-bubble

Today, as more and more teams test their players, many other positive cases have come out. The latest being from Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. It was also announced earlier in the day that the match between CSK and RR will get postponed as players from CSK also tested positive for the virus.

“Yes, Wriddhiman has tested positive. We are in isolation since yesterday,” a source from SRH said.

This comes in the wake of reports that the Delhi bio-bubble suffered a massive breach. In a report by Times of India, the GPS tracking device used by the players has been faulty. This has resulted in a massive breach.

Delhi Capitals players are already in isolation and their practice session was cancelled due to these developments. According to the BCCI SOP, if any member of the team tests positive, the entire side will have to go in isolation for six days.
