Punjab Kings (PBKS) emerged victorious in their opening league fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Though the Punjab-based franchise is off to a winning start to their league campaign, it could have very well ended up as a defeat considering the amazing performance of Sanju Samson. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on the other hand, were subjected to a humiliating defeat in their league encounter against Delhi Capitals (DC). PBKS and CSK are set to face off in the 8th match of the ongoing edition, with KL Rahul and MS Dhoni the two captains of the teams. There is an abundance of talent in the two teams, setting the stage for some very exciting player battles.

1) KL Rahul vs Deepak Chahar

KL Rahul is one of the best batsmen in the shortest format, considering his ability to smash the ball to all corners of the ground. The trick lies in dismissing him early, which Deepak Chahar will be eager to ensure. Deepak can be difficult to score against freely in the opening overs, setting the stage for a fine face-off.

2) Mayank Agarwal vs Sam Curran

Mayank Agarwal can be as destructive as KL Rahul on his day, with his fine footwork and exquisite timing. The opener will be looking to make his presence felt, but the same might not be easy against Sam Curran. Sam enjoys the knack of picking important wickets and will be eager to add Mayank to this tally.

3) Chris Gayle vs Dwayne Bravo

Windies superstar Chris Gayle was in fine form during PBKS’ league opener against RR. Gayle will be expected to deliver more of the same. However, he will face stern competition in teammate Dwayne Bravo, who is one of the best with the ball.

4) Mohammed Shami vs Suresh Raina

Mohammed Shami is one of the best Indian pacers in the shortest format of the game. Rahul will be optimistic of Shami maintaining his dominance in the T20 format even against a batsman of the class of Suresh Raina.

5) MS Dhoni vs Arshdeep Singh

MS Dhoni is one of the top batsmen in the death overs. Dhoni can be an absolute terror for players handed the ball in the last few overs, with his mental strength and power. However, Arshdeep Singh was the hero for PBKS in the final over against RR. He will be raring to make his presence felt yet again.
