Indian Premier League resumes on Sunday with a blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in the United Arab Emirates.
The Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have named more replacements for the remainder of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which begins on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Ben Dwarshuis has been brought in to replace England all-rounder Chris Woakes. Dwarshuis, an Australian left-arm pacer, has played 82 T20s and has 100 wickets to his name. Kulwant Khejroliya, a left-arm medium-pacer, has been named as M Siddharth’s replacement. Khejroliya has previously played for the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In place of Mohsin Khan, the Mumbai Indians have named Gujarat’s left-arm medium-pacer Roosh Kalaria to their squad. Kalaria has taken 271 wickets in 54 First-Class matches, 46 List A games, and 31 T20s so far. Punjab Kings, who had already named Adil Rashid and Nathan Ellis as replacements for Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith, have added another player to their squad. Aiden Markram of South Africa will replace Dawid Malan in the squad as the England batter is unavailable.
The West Indian duo of Oshane Thomas and Evin Lewis have been added to the Rajasthan Royals squad. They will take the places of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. Thomas, a right-arm pacer, has previously represented RR in 17 T20Is. Lewis, a left-handed batsman, has appeared in 45 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 1318 runs at a strike rate of 158.03. He also has two hundreds and nine fifties to his credit. Tabraiz Shamsi and Glenn Phillips had previously been named to the squad by RR.
Bengal medium-pacer Akash Deep has been selected by Royal Challengers Bangalore to replace the injured Washington Sundar. Akash Deep has 73 wickets to his name after playing 9 First-Class matches, 11 List A games, and 15 T20s. RCB had previously made four changes to their squad, bringing in Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, George Garton, and Tim David in place of Adam Zampa, Daniel Sams, Kane Richardson, and Finn Allen.
Sherfane Rutherford has joined Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement for England wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow. The West Indian, who has appeared in seven IPL games, has previously played for the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians.

Players will gain valuable experience in the UAE conditions ahead of the T20 World Cup, while the Indian cricket board will be hoping its money-spinner stays out of the COVID-19 shadow when the IPL resumes on Sunday with the blockbuster Chennai Super Kings-Mumbai Indians clash in the UAE. The IPL bio-bubble was also breached as the second wave of COVID-19 wreaked havoc in India in April-May, forcing the tournament to be suspended after 29 games.
