On Tuesday, the India T20 Reboot kicks off against Asian Champions Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium. After a dismal performance in the T20 World Cup, India’s Hardik Pandya will have to start from scratch in the T20I series against Sri Lanka at home. The selectors have chosen a young squad, which adds to the excitement of the series. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka did not do well in the T20 World Cup, but they might make amends in the series against India.
The much-changed Indian team includes first-time T20I call-ups for pace combination Mukesh Kumar and Shivam Mavi, and the team also has Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, and Harshal Patel, among others. The two teams will meet at a site where they played in 2017 when India defeated Sri Lanka by 5 wickets. The Asian Champions, led by Dasun Shanaka, will also be eager to start the new year on a high note. Sri Lanka defeated India in the Asia Cup Super Six stage, knocking the Rohit Sharma-led team out of the competition.
