India stood on cusp of another big victory as Sri Lanka found themselves in a spot of bother at 28/1 in their second innings, trailing by 419 runs, at stumps on Day 2 of the second and final Test at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday. India currently lead the two-match series 1-0. Chasing a target of 447 runs in the Day-Night Test, the visitors lost their experienced opener Lahiru Thirimanne (0), in the third ball of their second innings to India pace-ace Jasprit Bumrah. However, his opening partner and captain Dimuth Karunaratne (10 not out) and Kusal Mendis (16 not out), maneuvered the innings cautiously till umpires called it a day.

Earlier, resuming the day on 86/6, Lasith Embuldeniya (1) and Suranga Lakmal (5), failed to withstand the formidable Indian bowling with the pink-ball as they were sent packing early by Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Senior wicket keeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella (21), however, continued to play a cautious knock but failed to convert his start into a resilient knock in his 38-ball innings which included three boundaries.
Incoming tailenders Praveen Jayawickrama (1 not out) and Vishwa Fernando (8), later, failed to show resistance as the visitors were bundled out for 109 runs in their first essay.
Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts in the first innings as he returned figures of 5/24 while his pace partner Mohammed Shami scalped two wickets. Spin twins Ashwin (2/30) and Axar Patel (1/21), meanwhile, shared three wickets among themselves to support the cause.
Later, India continued to pile more misery on Sri Lanka, as openers Mayank Agarwal (22) and Rohit Sharma (46) forged an opening stand of 42 runs before the former was sent packing. Incoming batter Hanuma Vihari (35) contributed with an important cameo while former India captain Virat Kohli (13) failed to get going in the second innings.
However, Rishabh Pant (50) and Shreyas Iyer (67), notched up brilliant half-centuries to take the game away from Sri Lanka. The wicket keeper-batter hit seven boundaries and two sixes in his 31-ball knock while in-form Iyer smashed nine fours in his cautious innings of 87 deliveries.
All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja (22) and Ravichandran Ashwin (13), meanwhile, also contributed to the tally of the team while Shami was unbeaten on 16 off 8 deliveries when India declared their innings at 303/9.
For Sri Lanka, Embuldeniya, again was the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of 3/87.
