Following a dismal T20 World Cup 2022 campaign, India prepares for a white-ball trip to New Zealand. The limited-overs series won’t have Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli. In the absence of the senior players, Hardik Pandya will head the team in the shorter format, while Shikhar Dhawan will captain the team in the ODIs. India has named a squad of 16 players for each of the white-ball formats. Let us take a look at the three players who might not get to play for India in the series.

Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel has been a constant in the Indian T20 squad, capturing 26 wickets at a 9.20 economy rate. With his countless versions of slower balls, the 31-year-old has built a name for himself in tricking batters. He’s been working as a death-overs specialist for the Men in Blue. However, the Gujarat-born all-rounder has been a pale shell of his former self since returning to the Indian T20 setup following a rib ailment.
The bowling all-rounder was part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 but did not play. Harshal is in the squad for the next T20I series against New Zealand, although breaking into the starting XI will be difficult.

Shahbaz Ahmed

Shahbaz came into the Indian team thanks to outstanding performances on the domestic circuit and a lucrative IPL. The outstanding all-rounder appeared in two One-Day Internationals against South Africa and performed admirably, taking up three wickets in two games at a 5.05 economy rate. Shahbaz is in India’s ODI squad for the forthcoming trip to New Zealand, although his prospects of making the playing XI are slim.

Kuldeep Sen

Kuldeep performed admirably in the recent Irani Cup. The speedster wreaked havoc with the ball for the Rest of India, taking eight wickets. Because of his great performances, he has been selected for the forthcoming ODI series against the Blackcaps. However, the Rewa native is unlikely to make his international debut in New Zealand. Kuldeep Sen is one of the few fast bowlers in India who can routinely hit 145 kmph. But with Arshdeep also in the ODI squad, he might be preferred ahead of Sen.
