England secured a victory by a margin of 69 runs, resulting in a 2-1 win in the ODI series and levelling the multi-format Ashes series at 8-8. The match took place at Taunton and was affected by rain, which led to the reduction of the second innings to 44 overs and a target of 269 runs.Batting first after losing the toss, England posted a total of 285/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Nat Sciver-Brunt played a crucial role by scoring her second consecutive ODI century with 129 runs. Heather Knight contributed 67 runs, while Danni Wyatt played an explosive innings, scoring 43 runs off just 25 balls. Australia’s Ash Gardner (3/39) and Jess Jonassen (3/30) took six wickets between them.

Australia had a poor start, losing their openers within 2.1 overs, similar to England’s start in the first innings. The English third-wicket partnership added 147 runs, creating pressure on the experienced duo of Ellyse Perry and Tahlia McGrath. Sophie Ecclestone dismissed McGrath for 53 runs with a flighted delivery, resulting in a great stumping by Amy Jones.Rain interrupted the game for approximately an hour, leading to a reduction of six overs in the innings and a revised target of 269 runs. Australia’s senior pair of Perry and Beth Mooney added 45 runs for the fourth wicket, but Perry was dismissed by Kate Cross after reaching her half-century.

Beth Mooney also fell to Cross in the following over. Ashleigh Gardner, batting at number six, played a counterattacking innings, scoring 41 runs off 24 balls with three fours and two sixes but was unfortunately run out while attempting a quick run.
