England will look to bounce back in the second of three-match ODI series at the Lord's on Thursday.
England will host India for the second of a three-match ODI series at the Lord’s, London on July 14. The visitors thrashed England by 10 wickets in the first ODI on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead and put the hosts in a do-or-die-situation. The series is a part of India’s full tour of England 2022 which includes the rescheduled fifth Test, three-match T20I series.
England, meanwhile, have begun a new era after their limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan announced his retirement and prolific opener Jos Buttler has been passed on the baton. English all-rounder Sam Curran will be a part of the ODI squad while young fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik earned their maiden ODI call-up for the national team in the 50-over format.
The Lord’s, London was opened to the spectators in 1814 and is the ‘mecca of cricket’. It has a seating capacity of 30000 spectators and has been the home to Marylebone Cricket Club and Middlesex. The multi-purpose stadium has also been the home to Lacrosse, Hockey, Archery (2012 Olympics). Mick Hunt has been the chief pitch curator of the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Lord’s has hosted 70 ODI matches so far with the team batting first winning 33 and those fielding first clinching wins in 32 games to make the ratio even. The average first innings score in 238 runs while the average second inning score is 213. Lord’s has, traditionally, not been a high scoring venue in the ODI format.
