Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has revealed a fascinating and “honest” talk with former Indian captain MS Dhoni during the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Stoinis admitted that he felt delighted as well as insulted at the same time, following the conversation. The Australian all-rounder was seen representing Delhi Capitals (DC) during the recently concluded edition. Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on to a league triumph.

“He was actually very honest with me. He understood me very well and he sort of said how they (CSK) would try to bowl to me and how he tried to set the fields for me. [It] was both a compliment but also a little dig where I have to figure out which way to take it and I’m taking it as a compliment (laughs),” said Stoinis in a conversation with The Grade Cricketer’s YouTube channel.

“It was very interesting he did say that it’s very obvious how some people want to take some responsibility and stay until the end, whereas some people are willing to take the risk early to, sort of, either try and get ahead of the game or walk off and he identifies that within the team. We spoke about training, we spoke about his belief on ‘Work on your weakness as long as it’s not taking anything away from your strength’. So he spoke about how a lot of coaches will ask you to work on things and you might work on the short ball and then you start missing the full ball which was a really, really nice filter for me for training,” the all-rounder added.

Will consider Ishan Kishan ahead of Hardik Pandya if he is not bowling: Sunil Gavaskar

Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has proposed two changes to the Indian team for their upcoming crucial encounter against New Zealand. Gavaskar said the team management can think of bringing in Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur in place of Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, respectively.

“If Hardik Pandya is not bowling due to that shoulder injury he sustained in the match against Pakistan Ishan Kishan has been in brilliant form so I will surely consider him ahead of Pandya. And perhaps, you can think of Shardul Thakur in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But otherwise, if you make too many changes, then you will show the opposition that you have panicked,” the Team India legend told Sports Tak.

Indian top-order struggled against the raw pace of Shaheen Shah Afridi: Matthew Hayden

Matthew Hayden is the current Pakistan batting consultant for the T20 World Cup in 2021. Hayden has revealed his opinion on one of the main reasons the Indian top-order struggled against Shaheen Shah Afridi.

“They (the Indian batters) had been facing 130km/h deliveries for the last month during the IPL. It’s a different cup of tea when you are facing someone running and bowling at Shaheen Shah Afridi’s pace,” Hayden told Fox Cricket.

“They were the best two balls that I’ve seen in five weeks. A fast in-swinging yorker and the courage that it takes to bowl that delivery against Rohit Sharma with the new ball is admirable,” he added.
