Chennai Super Kings will be back playing at home after a gap of 3 years, they will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants in the sixth match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, on Monday, 3rd of April. In the inaugural match of the season, Chennai Super Kings lost against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans by five wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed 92 off 50 and helped CSK get to a total of 178/7, the match went down to the wire and Gujarat Titans held their nerve and got over the finishing line. CSK will look to turn things around at home in their second match, over the year, the Super Kings have been one of the hardest teams to defeat at home.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants started their campaign with a dominant 50-run win over Delhi Capitals. Kyle Mayers was very impressive at the top of the order for LSG and Nicholas Pooran also talked a few out of the park and took the score to 193/6. In the 2nd innings, Mark Wood bowled a fantastic spell, he took five wickets for 14, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi picked two wickets each and restricted the Capitals to just 143/9. LSG look like a well-balanced unit and would like to make it two wins in a row at the Chidambaram Stadium.
The pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk has traditionally supported spin bowling. The batters have found it tough to get quick runs against spinners at this venue. The ball might do a little bit for the fast bowlers in the initial stages of the match as well, but it will get easier to bat as the match progresses. The batters need to get their eye in before going for the aggressive shots. The team winning the toss would be inclined to bowl first at this venue and chase the score down in the second innings with some dew expected.
