With IPL 2021 being postponed, the next big question is regarding the foreign players’ travel back home. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said BCCI will ‘find a way’ to arrange the travel of foreign players back to their home countries. The 14th edition of Indian Premier League was officially postponed by the BCCI indefinitely. This came up after two new positive cases of the coronavirus emerged across multiple IPL camps.

Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra tested positive for COVID-19 soon after which BCCI took the big call. “We need to send them home and we will find a way to do that,” Brijesh Patel told PTI.

On Monday, KKR players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested positive for the virus. Later in the day, CSK had three confirmed cases of the virus but none of them were players. The trio later tested negative in a rapid antigen test.

Australian players back home

Earlier, Australian cricketers Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson had decided to quit the IPL midway stating personal reasons. Zampa said that the IPL bio-bubble was the most vulnerable bubble he has been a part of. He also added that he feels the tournament should have taken place in the UAE just like last year.

“We’ve been in a few (bubbles) now, and I feel like this is probably the most vulnerable,” Zampa told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“I just feel like because it’s India, we’re always being told about the hygiene over here and being extra careful … I just felt like it was the most vulnerable. The IPL that was held in Dubai six months ago didn’t feel that way at all. I felt like that was extremely safe. Personally, I feel like that would have been a better option originally for this IPL but obviously, there’s a lot of political stuff that goes into it,” said Zampa.
