Najmul Shanto appeared to be in excellent shape, and Soumya Sarkar was back in the group. Bangladesh got off to a strong start thanks to the two batsmen, who put up 43 runs in the first five overs.
Van Meekeren was back in the attack to remove Sarkar, and Tim Pringle struck to dismiss Najmul Shanto in the very next over. At 63/4, Bangladesh was having trouble and quickly dropped to 76/5.
Thanks to late order cameos by Afif Hossein and Mosaddek Hossain, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 144 runs on the board.
In those conditions, 145 was a difficult target, but the Netherlands could have done much better. Instead, as Taskin struck out on the first two balls of the inning, they ended up self-destructing.
Max O’Dowd and Tom Cooper were both run out, and the Netherlands lost two wickets in the same over as they ended up being 4 down with just 15 on the board.
Following the two run outs, Ackermann assumed some responsibility and was the lone combatant. With only the final batting pair left, the batting side needed 40 runs from the final three overs. They were able to score 30 of those but that wasn’t enough in the end.
