Asia Cup 2022, Sri Lanka: Squad, Captain, Key Players

Dasun Shanaka will lead the island nation for the continental event while senior wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Chandimal has been included in the squad

The Asia Cup 2022 will get underway on August 27 with hosts Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan in the inaugural fixture to be held in Dubai. The Asia Cup 2022 fixtures were announced on Tuesday with the event set to be played in T20 format which will allow the continental teams a dress rehearsal for the 2022 T20 World Cup in October. 

Defending champions India will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on August 28. The last edition of the Asia Cup was played in 2018 where India defeated Bangladesh in a nail-biting finish of the ODI format-continental event to be crowned champions.

Asia Cup 2022, Sri Lanka: Squad, Captain, Key Players

Sri Lanka have named their 20-man squad for the Asia Cup 2022. Dasun Shanaka will lead the island nation for the continental event while senior wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Chandimal has been included in the squad after featuring in his last T20I in India, earlier in February. 

Young and rising Sri Lanka fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana has been included in the squad while hard-hitting batter Bhanuka Rajapaksha has also made a cut alongside premier leg-spinner Wanidu Hasaranga who will be leading the spin bowling attack for the side.
