Former Australian spinner Shane Warne praised Usman Khawaja on Saturday for his “amazing” century in the fourth Ashes Test against England’s second innings. At the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, Khawaja became only the third player in history to make a century in both innings of a Test match (SCG). Australia is fortunate to have a hitter like Khawaja, according to Warne. Khawaja will conquer international cricket, according to the spin legend.

“Absolutely fantastic by @Uz_Khawaja ! Take a bow. Back to back 100’s is just outstanding and is now undroppable. Also, I know I’ve been pumping up Cam Green all summer – but what a superstar he is going to be. Australia are v lucky to have him ! He will dominate world cricket,” Shane Warne tweeted.

Khawaja (101*) became only the sixth Australian batsman to score two centuries in an Ashes Test match. In the fourth Ashes Test, the left-handed hitter helped Australia set a target of 388 runs for England. Khawaja had hit 137 runs in Australia’s first innings, which was declared at 416/8.

Australia made 265/6 in the second innings before declaring on Day 4 of the fourth Test on Saturday. The England openers made it to stumps safely, setting up a dramatic final day on Sunday. The visitors were 30/0 at the end of Day 4 and still needed 358 runs to win the fourth Test.

Khawaja simply outstanding

For two years, Usman Khawaja was not selected in the Australian cricket team. But, when he was included, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Usman Khawaja became the fourth Australian to hit centuries in both innings of an Ashes Test. Combined with his 179-run stand with Cameron Green, Australia declared at 265/6, giving England a target of 387. By the close, England had moved to 30/0, a great start by a long way in this tour so far.

England was already boosted by Jonny Bairstow’s century and Ben Stokes’ attacking knock on day 3. After a disastrous opening session on day 3, Bairstow and Stokes stitched a 128-run stand that revived England. Bairstow then shared an entertaining partnership with Mark Wood worth 72.

At the start of day 4, Australia got the early breakthrough when they sent back Jack Leach cheaply in the second over. Bairstow struggled for rhythm, possibly suffering from a hand injury. The effects showed as he tamely edged Scott Boland for 113. When Stuart Broad departed for 15, Australia had taken a 122-run lead.
