On Saturday, January 14, the Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat will square off in Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 Match No. 40. The game will be held at the Adelaide Oval. The Strikers, led by Matthew Short, are gradually but steadily climbing the points table. Things appeared to be going wrong for them after losing four consecutive games, but victories in their last two games would have done wonders for their confidence. The Heat, led by Usman Khawaja, have shown a lot of promise but haven’t been able to turn it into victory. They are eighth in the points rankings and have a lot of work ahead of them.

So far, the Adelaide Oval pitch has been sporting. Batters can play their shots on the upswing, implying a high-scoring game. Because the track isn’t going to change significantly, winning the toss and fielding first should be the preferable option.
