Women's National Boxing Championships 2022, Bhopal: Find Out The Complete Results

World Champion Nikhat Zareen and Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain both claimed gold medals in their respective weight divisions at the Women's National Boxing Championships 2022 which concluded on December 27, 2022.

The Railways team topped the medal tally with 10 medals, including five gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. With one gold, two silver, and five bronze, Madhya Pradesh took second place, followed by Haryana with two gold and two bronze. Nikhat Zareen, the world champion and Commonwealth Games gold winner and Lovlina Borgohain, the bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics, both claimed gold medals in their respective weight divisions at the Women’s National Boxing Championships 2022 in Bhopal. Lovlina won the 75kg final with a 5-0 win over Services’ Arundhati Choudhary, while Nikhat faced a tough battle from Railways’ Anamika before winning 4-1.

In the previous national competition, Nikhat Zareen had won the 52 kg category. Nikhat’s triumph capped off a remarkable year in which she also became world champion, the Commonwealth Games 2022 gold medalist and claimed the gold medal at the Strandja Memorial tournament. With this win, Nizamabad-born pugilist got a perfect record in all of the main contests this year, including the nationals.

In the 48kg final, Manju Rani of the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) defeated Tamil Nadu’s S Kalaivani 5-0 which was another big sensational event in the day. Shiksha (54kg), Shashi Chopra (63kg), and Nupur (+81kg) were the other gold medalists from Railways. Meanwhile, Tokyo Olympian Simranjit Kaur was defeated in the 60kg final by Railways’ Poonam. Top pugilist Saweety Boora who is also the 2014 world championship silver medalist clinched the gold medal in the 81 kg weight class.
