Know the mascot of Women's World Boxing Championships 2023

The Boxing Federation India (BFI) recently announced the mascot for the upcoming IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023. The mascot is a cheetah named Veera, which represents strength, bravery, courage, and valor. Cheetahs are known as the fastest animals on land. Just like boxers who defeat their opponents with quick movements in the ring, Veera symbolizes the same strength and courage exhibited by women boxers. The Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023 will see the participation of top names from the boxing world. This includes eight Olympics medalists, who will compete for the title. India will be hosting the event for the record third time. The tournament will also have a massive prize pool of INR 20 crore.

What the Union Sports Minister had to say

The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Thakur made the announcement. The Indian contingent participating in the event also marked their presence. The Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023 will be taking place from March 15 to 26 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi. The minister suggested that young boxers from across the country should be given the opportunity to watch Indian as well as international stars and meet coaches through some program. This would be a chance for them to learn about the preparation required to reach that level in the future.

What BFI President Had to say

Accepting the Minister’s suggestion, BFI President Ajay Singh said that the BFI would do its best to get young boxers and coaches from across the country to attend the tournament and learn from the top stars of the sport. The BFI President also commented on how boxing is trying to contribute to the larger objective of making India a stronger opponent in the world of sports. India is currently the third-ranked boxing nation in the world and is proud of its women’s boxing team.
