2018 Commonwealth Games (CWG) silver medalist Amit Panghal will feature in the preliminary round of the Men’s Boxing Over 48kg-51kg Round of 16 clash on Monday. Amit, one of India’s hopes for a medal at the 2022 CWG in Birmingham, will face Nami Berri of Vanuatu in the preliminary contest. 

Amit has been handed a relatively easier draw in the preliminary round and expected to pass the test with flying colours to enter the next round. The 2019 World Championships silver medallist earned his last podium finish at the 2021 Asian Championship where he clinched a silver medal. The premier Indian boxer from Rohtak had clinched a silver medal after losing to England’s Galal Yafai in the men’s light flyweight (49kg) final at Gold Coast.
