She was one of eight American players that registered a double-digit point total, including with freshly crowned WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, who poured in 20 points on 10-of-11 field goal shooting. Having made 7 of 8 shots, Hyejin Park led South Korea with 17 points.
According to The Associated Press, Team USA’s victory was their 26th straight in World Cup play (they haven’t lost since the 2006 quarterfinals), tying their previous mark that stood from 1994 to 2006.After defeating China, Puerto Rico, and Belgium on Saturday, the United States advanced to the quarterfinals. With an average of 103.8 points scored each game in Australia, the American team tops all other teams. The last group stage match is on Tuesday against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the quarterfinals begin on Thursday. The United States has won 25 straight World Cups since losing to Russia in the 2006 semi-finals. The USA reached the quarterfinals, just one win behind her 26-game record from 1998-2006.
