The FIBA Women’s World Cup Canada vs Australia match will be held on September 26, 8:30 PM (International Time) and September 26, 4:00 PM (Indian Time).
The Canada vs Australia will take place in the FIBA World Cup on September 26 at Sydney SuperDome. The World Cup, which will be held in Sydney, Australia, will include 12 teams competing for the title of world champions, including Canada. Twelve women, including stalwarts of the program like Natalie Achonwa and Bridget Carleton, will represent Canada in Australia. The most remarkable development, though, is the return of program star Kia Nurse, who is playing basketball competitively for the first time in 11 months at the World Cup after suffering a ruptured ACL in her right knee.
The World Cup is the international women’s basketball equivalent of the Olympics. The women’s competition, however, doesn’t provide as many automatic spots in the Olympics as the men’s World Cup does. The men’s World Cup, which will be held in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, will grant seven Olympic berths, whereas the women’s World Cup will only offer one. The victor of the FIBA Women’s World Cup 2022 will advance directly to the Olympic competition in Paris in 2024. The Olympic position on the line is therefore the most significant part of the World Cup, aside from the prestige that comes with fighting for a world championship crown. Despite this, there will still be a chance to compete in Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, starting with Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments, in order to qualify for the Olympics. Except for the World Cup champion, they will serve as the first stage toward Olympic qualification.
