Turkey vs Italy 2022 FIBA U-18 European Championship Women’s game will be held on August 6. After dropping their initial match at the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship, the Great Britain Under-18 team defeated North Macedonia 71-54 on Monday. Something broke when Kenrick Liburd’s team trailed by nine points in the third quarter. An excellent stretch of play increased Great Britain’s Division B record to 1-1 and drastically altered the result of the match. Katie Januszewska led the team’s effort, finishing with a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds. She also had six thefts and two blocks. Leia Edwards contributed 11 points, and Issy Bunyan contributed 9 points and 6 assists. With 12 points and nine rebounds in her tournament debut, Carys Roy came extremely close to recording a double-double.
Edwards scored her first points of the game in the second quarter, ending GB’s scoring slump as both teams battled to find the back of the net. A 7-1 run by North Macedonia in the last six minutes allowed it to take the lead after Great Britain was unable to score another field goal in the first half. Before halftime, Forster had leveled the score at 21 with a long-range two to cap the run. In the third quarter, North Macedonia expanded their lead to nine points as Edwards scored on an and-1 play to open the frame. At that point, pressure started to build. Bunyan and Roy, a Welsh combo from both ends of the court, assisted Great Britain in taking the lead during an 11-3 run by Violet Stutz’s corner three.
