Israeli basketball club Maccabi Tel Aviv earned a 90:84 home victory over Greek champions Olympiacos Piraeus in the EuroLeague at Tel Aviv’s Menora Mivtatim Arena on Tuesday night. It was Maccabi’s fifth victory in the competition, while Olympiacos are behind with six wins out of nine games. Olympiacos held on to a narrow 45-43 lead at halftime, which he extended to 56-46 midway through the third quarter before Maccabi took his lead to 69-63.
Lorenzo Brown made a big comeback in the fourth quarter, helping Maccabi turn the game for a home victory. Wade Baldwin scored 22 points, a game-high for Maccabi, while Brown scored 16 points and his 6 assists. Giannulis Larenzakis led Olympiacos with 21 points, while Sascha Vezenkov had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Olympiacos Piraeus easily defeated Promytheas Patras in the Greek Basketball League this morning. The team got off to a good start and never looked back, delivering some impressive performances along the way. First, Olympiacos scored 17 of his 3-pointers in this match, a high shooting percentage of 56% (17/30), and his 2018 goal in his one game in the league. He tied the team record for 3-point shots.

Additionally, Thomas Walkup recorded 13 assists during the game, the team’s second-highest total in his league history. However, another success was achieved during the match. Olympiacos didn’t have a single offensive rebound against Promytheus. According to Greek journalist Yannis Psarakis, it was the first time in the professional history of the Greek basketball league that a team didn’t even get an offensive rebound during a game. The Greek league has existed for almost a century, but the competition turned professional in the 1992/93 season.
