While Spain seized charge of Group C after defeating the Czech Republic in an 88-71 victory with six different players scoring in double digits, including Juan Nunez with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, France made a statement by defeating Belgium 86-65 with a balanced approach.

Even for the teams in Group B, Israel and Italy’s victories over Portugal and Greece, respectively, did not come easily. Greece and Israel played a defensive-oriented game, apparently laying everything on the line. Israel took the lead initially with a game-opening 18-4 advantage, but they relied on their captain Noam Shimon Dovrat to maintain the lead and won 69-65. After Greece had reduced the margin of victory to two points late in the contest, Dovrat scored six of his 19 points.
