Lithuania vs Spain 2022 International Friendly Games match will be held on August 16 on Tuesday. Yutaro Suda scored 20 points and Yudai Baba added 19 for Japan in an 82-77 win over Iran in the first of two international friendlies on Saturday at Xebio Arena Sendai. Tom Hovasse’s new Japan team, who played without NBA forwards Rui Hachimura and Yuta Watanabe, took revenge on an 88-76 loss to Iran in the group stage of the FIBA Asia Cup in Indonesia last month. The Akatsuki Five led at every break but endured a torrid second half against an Iranian side who turned up the heat after a 33-24 half-time loss.

“We’ve got a lot of new members and it’s not perfect yet, but everyone is trying very hard,” said Hovasse, whose side exited the Asian Cup with a quarter-final defeat by eventual champions Australia. “Our aim has been to gradually improve since the Asian Cup and I think that was a  good performance. Three-time Asian Cup winners Iran gained possession late in the fourth quarter, but Japan made a number of crucial baskets to stay ahead, including a three from Soichiro Inoue to make it 80-74, 1-19. Striker Mohammad Jamshidi led the visitors and contributed 26 points. The teams meet again at the same venue on Sunday.
