In Tbilisi, Georgia is hosting Group A of EuroBasket 2022, but things haven’t exactly gone smoothly. Georgian Basketball Federation has come under fire for its shoddy organization, low turnout, and incidents both on and off the floor. This might add another blemish to the event’s less-than-successful hosting. The reason for the offer to free support for the Belgian squad is straightforward: if Bulgaria defeats the Belgians in their game, Georgia’s prospects of making it out of the group would be lost. Turkey and Spain have already secured their places in Berlin’s knockout round, but the other 4 teams in Group A will compete for the final 2 slots on Wednesday.
