The LA Sparks will head to the Footprint Center for a WNBA matchup against the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday, July 28. Phoenix will be looking to seek revenge for the 78-75 defeat the Sparks had handed them in a game earlier this month.

However, the Sparks do not have the momentum in their favor, as they are going into the encounter on the back of a disappointing loss against the Las Vegas Aces. Chennedy Carter seemed to be the only player that was able to get something going on the team. She came off the bench and scored 15 points in 25 minutes. The likes of Nneka Ogwumike and Katie Lou Samuelson were only able to score 10 points each. They had a good first half and trailed by only a point going into halftime. However, things started going downhill in the second half for the Sparks, and that led to an 84-66 loss for them.

Meanwhile, the Mercury is headed into the game on the back of an inspiring win against the Seattle Storm. This matchup was the final time WNBA legends, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi went up against each other. The latter scored 28 points while contributing with 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Skylar Diggins – Smith racked up 35 points in 34 minutes of action. Sophie Cunningham also chipped in with 19 points. In the end, Mercury took home a dominant 94-78 win.
