Iran will take on Syria in the FIBA Asia Cup on July 13. The Group’s top two seeds, China and Korea, have a combined total of 44 Asia Cup medals, 18 of which are gold. With four medals, Chinese Taipei has achieved some historical achievements as well (2 silvers). Bahrain may not measure up in this regard, but after their performance in the World Cup Qualifiers, they are perhaps the team with the most momentum going into the Asia Cup 2022. To let everyone know they meant business going into the tournament, Korea was one of the first teams in the Asia Cup to release their 12-player squad. The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019’s top scorer and rebounder, Ra GunA, will compete in his debut Asia Cup while heading a team that includes players like Kim JongKyo, Lee DaeSung, Choi JunYong, and the Heo brothers, Ung and Hoon.

Korea has a long history of being a highly competent, highly organized, and very efficient nation. There’s no reason not to anticipate the same kind of brilliance from this collection of seasoned and accomplished players given the way their roster is constructed. With China taking on Korea at 8:00 PM (GMT +7), the calendar immediately jumps into one of the greatest group-stage matches of the Asia Cup. Obtaining the early victory here to gain the benefit of maybe getting that direct Quarter-Finals position is highly desired because both teams should have their sights set on winning it all. The entire game will be stressful, so be prepared for that. Even though the loser of this game will suffer a significant blow, don’t anticipate them to slump and mope around. Both clubs have a wealth of experience and are aware that the road ahead is still lengthy after this opening game.
