Adebayo was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 18, 1997. The basketball player was born to John Adebayo and Marilyn Blount. Adebayo started his high school career at the Northside high school but later transferred to the High Point Christian Academy.
Adebayo got into the University of Kentucky in 2016 and started playing for the Kentucky Wildcats. After just playing one season of college basketball, he decided to declare himself for the 2017 NBA drafts. In his only college season he averaged 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
