Connecticut Sun vs New York Liberty will be held on July 19. The Connecticut Sun prepares to visit the Las Vegas Aces as part of a pretty busy Sunday for the WNBA. These two teams are still competing for the league’s top slot. The Aces arrive in Connecticut to play a club they were vying with for the league’s top slot earlier this season as they round off their northeastern road trip. With the New York Liberty, they just completed a three-game “series,” winning two of the games for the bubble club, including a commanding 108-74 victory on Thursday that was preceded by a pair of tight games.
Even though the Aces have only won three of their previous five games, they are only 1.5 games behind the Chicago Sky for the top WNBA seed. As the only two players in the league averaging more than 20 points per game, Kelsey Plum still leads the charge offensively and is second in the league in points-per-game (20.2), behind only Breanna Stewart of the Seattle Storm. The Sun, who is now third in the rankings following their massive 93-68 victory against the Atlanta Dream on Friday, is a little further adrift in the fight for first place. Connecticut has won its first two games following the All-Star Break, much like the Aces.

The Sun have won three of their previous four games, losing only to the Sky and Dallas Wings in recent weeks. They are one game behind Las Vegas and 2.5 games behind the Sky going into Sunday. Jonquel Jones, who averages 15.1 points per game for Connecticut, is the team’s top scorer. The teams split the first two games in Sin City in late May and early June, making this their third and final encounter.
