Chinese Taipei vs Philippines 2022 FIBA U-18 Asia Championship, Group A match will be held on August 22 at Azadi Basketball Hall. The 1.96 m (6′ 5″) winger is a member of the Gilas Youth squad that will compete in the FIBA U18 Asian Championship, a chance he never imagined would come his way. In fact, when he was much younger, he never even saw himself playing the sport. In high school, Andres started out as a goalie on the varsity football team, but he scarcely got any playing time. He said, “I was never adept at playing soccer. But that was sufficient to secure me a spot on the high school varsity squad.
But it wasn’t until 2019 when he and his family made the decision to return to Dubai that he made the transition from the pitch to the hardwood. Andres attributes his swift learning of the craft to the support he has around him as well as some of the fundamentals he learned playing football. Andres has lived in Dubai for the majority of his life, and he claimed that returning there helped him when he switched to a completely new sport. Since then, he has certainly been presented with opportunities, including a request to try out for the Philippine young squad, which ultimately brought him into the starting lineup. Dubai not only provided him with the necessary exposure, but it also made it possible for him to meet and become close friends with Kevin Quiambao.
