Atléticos de San Germán vs Vaqueros de Bayamón 2022 Puerto Rico BSN Playoffs game will be held on August 11. Beginning today, the battle for the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) championship will center on two of the teams with the oldest league histories. The opening game of the championship series will take place tonight at 8:00 p.m. at the Rubén Rodrguez Coliseum in the City of Chicharrón between the Bayamón Cowboys and the San Germán Athletics. The first encounter will take place in front of a packed house since tickets for a face-to-face sale at the Bayamón Coliseum’s box office sold out in less than five hours.
The series is going to be a battle for supremacy. With the capture of sceptre number 16, the Cowboys will attempt to increase their position as the league’s most championship-winning squad, while San Germán will want to tie the Bayamo team (15 titles). The Cangrejeros de Santurce and the champion Capitanes de Arecibo were both defeated by the Atléticos, who are the surprise of the tournament. The Atléticos will compete for the BSN championship for the first time since 1997. When the final series begins today, the Cowboys’ great point guard, Angel Rodriguez, made it plain that San Germán’s surprise run to the final will not serve as a source of encouragement. Without dropping a single game throughout the current postseason, Bayamón has reached this situation. In fact, they won both of their semifinal and quarterfinal series in four games to become the first club in league history to reach the championship game. The last time they won the title was in the 2020 competition, which was contested in a bubble format in a hotel in the Rio Grande during the Covivirus-19 outbreak.
