Tuesday night’s game between Ohio and Ball State, in which both teams have something to play for, marks the start of the MACtion. Following a 37-21 victory over nemesis Miami in the “Battle of the Bricks” last Tuesday, Ohio (7-3, 5-1 MAC) enters this game with a five-game winning streak and a commanding lead in the East Division.
With a victory over Ball State and a defeat by Bowling Green this week, the Bobcats can guarantee their place in the MAC Championship Game. On Tuesday at the same time, the Falcons will also play, traveling to face MAC West champion Toledo.
With a victory at home, Ball State (5-5, 3-3) may put off Ohio’s throne and go to the bowls. If the Cardinals want to go bowling, they must defeat the Bobcats or triumph away at the RedHawks on Wednesday. Last Tuesday, Ball State gave the Rockets everything they could handle on the road, but they were unable to hold onto a seven-point lead going into the third quarter and fell 28-21.
The head-to-head series is now 15-11 in favor of Ball State, although Ohio has won the last three encounters, the most recent of which was a 34-21 triumph at Muncie, Indiana, back in 2019.
