Three years have passed since Matt Hardy made his debut on the March 18 episode of “AEW Dynamite” at Daily’s Place, coinciding with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, he portrayed Broken Matt Hardy and actively participated in Stadium Stampede, joining forces with The Elite against the Inner Circle. Subsequently, he returned to his regular persona as Matt Hardy.

During an interview with the “Daily Mail,” Hardy openly discussed his debut in AEW. He revealed that, as he had mentioned before, if given the chance to alter anything about it, the outcome on-screen would be different.
Looking back, Hardy expressed, “If I had foreseen the lack of fans and the unexpected pandemic lasting for a year and a half, I would not have chosen to portray Broken Matt Hardy. Instead, I would have initially embraced my plain-vanilla persona as Matt Hardy.”

Broken Matt Hardy is a character adored by his fans, known for his taunts and eccentric words. The presence of passionate fans in the arena fuels his persona. Considering this, I would have made a different choice. Rather than introducing Broken Matt Hardy right away, I would have portrayed him as Matt Hardy, the beloved babyface and one-half of the famous Hardy Boys duo.

After joining AEW last year, Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy reunited as brothers and now collaborate frequently on AEW television.
