The match between the two most followed wrestlers in AEW lived up to its hype. As their Steel Cage match was the brutal encounter between Moxley and Kenny that matches the AEW promotion’s reputation.

Steel Cage Match

On May 10’s AEW Dynamite edition, former AEW World Champions Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley engaged in a Steel Cage match as the main event. This match was going to be interesting as Jon and Kenny never fail to entertain the crowd with their technical skills and abilities. The two opponents used a variety of weapons throughout the bloody contest, including a chair covered in barbed wire, glass shards, and a turnbuckle that had come loose. Both used everything they had in them and their weapons to emerge victorious in this match, yet none was willing to give up which pushed them as well as their fans to the limit. A V-trigger from Omega at one moment sent Moxley flying through the cage wall and hit hard to the ground, making the crowd go berserk.

Callis manager of Omega initially wanted to help Omega from being attacked by a screwdriver-wielding Moxley during the steel cage bout, allowing Omega to hit Moxley with the One Winged Angel. However, Callis again stepped inside the ring and broke up the pin by when Omega almost won the match by pinning Moxley but Callis assaulted Omega with the screwdriver he had just rescued him from Moxley. Due to Omega’s unable to move, Moxley saw that chance and was able to pin him and win the main match of “Dynamite.”

“It’s not going to end here,” says Moxley, speaking after the match. “This was only the beginning. We’re bringing our A-game. We’re competitive with each other, and we’re competitive with the rest of the wrestling industry. There’s a lot on the line, so no one is taking a step backward. We’re showing why we’re the superior group.”

“This rivalry between us is the cutting edge of the business,” says Moxley. “You might be more into something else, but look at who is involved here. Kenny Omega may be the greatest wrestler that ever lived. Bryan Danielson may be the greatest wrestler that ever lived. Claudio Castagnoli may be the most absolute alien pretending to be a human Superman f—ing freak wrestler to ever live. The Young Bucks may be the greatest tag team of all time. Even if you think I f—ing suck, you still have all these greats.”
