AEW star Anna Jay recently discussed her pro wrestling career on “Busted Open,” where she was invited to appear.
Like many wrestling fans, Jay grew up watching the sport. Despite his brothers’ lack of interest, Jay would eagerly join their father, a devoted wrestling fan, in watching matches.
RephraseI would keep expressing my desire to pursue this every week to my parents, and they surprisingly responded with, “Alright, if you truly want to do it, then go ahead.” During her contemplation of a career in wrestling, Jay decided to spend a year attending college.
While in Atlanta, I bumped into an acquaintance from the wrestling world named Glacier, who informed me about a new school called The Nightmare Factory. It was then still known as the Power Factory. He offered me an invitation to check it out and see if it sparked my interest. After attending a camp there and witnessing the dynamic atmosphere, I knew I wanted to pursue this path. So, after finishing up my academic semester, I made the move to Atlanta and officially began my training journey.
When asked who her favorite wrestler was when she was younger, Anna Jay responded, “The Bella Twins.”
Jay replied, “Yes, The Bella Twins. They are really what got me into it and convinced me that, “Okay, if they can do it, I can do it. I know that’s pretty cliche, and I’ve said it every time.
Tonight on “AEW Dynamite,” Jay will face Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s World Championship. Although her father won’t be able to watch the match, Jay is grateful that she can pursue her passion and share it with him.
It’s truly amazing to have these conversations with my dad. Sharing this experience with him brings me so much joy and pride. He has always been so supportive, even though he likes to ask me a lot of questions, which can sometimes be annoying but I appreciate his interest. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today, as I mentioned before. They will definitely be watching, although I wish they could be here in person tonight. Despite the nervousness, being here is fulfilling because it’s what I’ve always wanted and dreamed of.”
