Adam Pearce in WWE

Terry Taylor became aware of Pearce through a number of his World Wrestling Federation  appearances as enhancement talent. Paul Orndorff contacted Pearce when Taylor left for World Championship Wrestling. Pearce was given a WCW developmental contract after attending the WCW Power Plant, but he turned it down. Pearce had another tryout with WCW in early 2000 after a brief stint in the ill-fated WXO, but he called WCW “disorganised and chaotic.” Pearce opted to take a break from professional wrestling because he was “burned out.”

Authority Figure

In 2020, Pearce took on the job of the WWE’s on-screen authority figure for Raw and SmackDown, making his on-screen debut on January 17. Vince McMahon gave Pearce instructions to collect the signatures of Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, and Bray Wyatt on the contract for their triple threat no holds barred match at Payback on the August 28, 2020 episode of SmackDown. Strowman and Wyatt signed with Pearce’s help, but Reigns declined because he wanted certain adjustments made.

Shane McMahon directed Pearce and Braun Strowman to challenge Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin for the Raw Tag Team Championship on the March 1, 2021 episode of Raw. Strowman hesitantly tagged Pearce in at Shane McMahon’s request, and Pearce was eventually pinned.

When the referee went down during the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship bout on the March 3, 2021 episode of WWE NXT, Shayna Baszler used the kirifuda clutch to pass out Dakota Kai even though she wasn’t the legal opponent. Pearce then shouted for a referee to come down to the ring. Nia Jax and Baszler won and kept their titles as a result.
