Sakshi Malik was born on September 3, 1992, in Mokhra village of Haryana’s Rohtak district to Sudesh Malik, a supervisor at a nearby medical facility, and Sukhbir Malik, a bus conductor with the Delhi Transport Corporation. Her grandfather Badlu Ram, a wrestler, is said to have inspired her to pick up the sport, according to her father. At the age of 12, she started taking wrestling lessons from Ishwar Dahiya at an Akhara in Rohtak’s Chhotu Ram Stadium. However, four people—Kuldeep Malik, Ishwar Dahiya, Mandeep Singh, and Rajbir Singh—claimed to be Sakshi Malik’s trainers. In a later affidavit, Sakshi herself informed the sports department that Ishwar Dahiya and Mandeep Singh are her coaches.

At the 2010 Junior World Championships, Malik won the bronze medal in the 58 kg freestyle competition, marking her first triumph as a professional wrestler on an international stage. At the Dave Schultz International Tournament in 2014, she took home the gold medal in the 60 kg division. She continued playing the game with the same fervor and dedication after that and never stopped.

She participated in the 2022 Yasar Dogu Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey. At the Tunis, Tunisia, installment of the 2022 Tunis Ranking Series competition, she took home the bronze medal in her category. She subsequently went on to win the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.

Satyawart Kadian was born on 9 November 1993. He is an Indian wrestler. At the first Youth Olympics in 2010, he competed for India and took home a bronze medal in the boys’ freestyle 100 kg division. He later competed for India at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he took home a silver medal in the 97 kg weight division. Kadian won the boys’ freestyle 100 kg bronze medal at the inaugural Youth Olympics in Singapore, making a name for himself in the Indian wrestling community and the rest of the world.

This was Kadian’s first significant medal at an international competition.  Kadian kept competing in the 97 kg weight division and started his Asian Games campaign against Kyrgyzstan’s Magomed Musaev, losing 1-3 in the opening round. He was able to amend for his mistakes by defeating Pakistan’s Bilal Hussain Awad 4-0 in the repêchage round. That advanced him to the bronze medal match, where he fell to Kazakhstan’s Mamed Ibragimov 3-0.
