Bajrang Punia was born on 26 February 1994. He is an Indian freestyle wrestler and competes in the 65 kg weight division. Punia defeated Kazakhstan’s Daulet Niyazbekov by an 8-0 score to earn a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Punia is the only wrestler from India to have taken home four medals from the World Wrestling Championships.

In the 65 kg final match at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Bajrang Punia decisively defeated Lachlan McNeil of Canada to win the gold medal.
