Brandon Moreno’s wife is Shirley Moreno. Brandon and Shirley have been married for more than a decade, having married in a private and personal ceremony. Moreno grew up in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, in a humble family that ran a pinata business. He wanted to reduce weight when he was twelve, so his mother registered him at the local Entram Gym, where he began training in mixed martial arts. Despite his ambitions to go to law school and become a lawyer, Moreno chose to focus completely on his MMA career.

Moreno’s Early Career

Moreno made his professional MMA debut in April 2011 in his home in Mexico. He won six games and lost three during the next two years. Moreno would make his World Fighting Federation debut in 2014. He would go unbeaten in the promotion, going 5-0, and eventually winning the Flyweight belt, which led to his being cast in the Flyweight tournament on The Ultimate Fighter 25th season.

Moreno was reported to be a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions in July 2016. Moreno was chosen to join Team Benavidez. In the first round, he met Alexandre Pantoja and was defeated by submission.

Brandon Moreno made his UFC debut against Louis Smolka on October 1, 2016, at UFC Fight Night: Lineker vs. Dodson. Moreno won the fight by submission, earning him the night’s performance bonus. On December 3, 2016, ‘The Assassin Baby’ faced Ryan Benoit in his second fight and won by decision.

On April 22, 2017, he faced Dustin Ortiz at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Labov. Moreno was victorious by technical submission. Brandon Moreno was defeated in 2017 and 2018 by Sergio Pettis and Alexandre Pantoja. During an interview in 2019, Moreno revealed that his contract with the UFC has been terminated.

Moreno fought Askar Askarov in his comeback fight at UFC Bout Night: Rodriguez vs. Stephen on September 21, 2019, and the fight finished in a draw. Brandon Moreno defeated Kai Kara- France by a majority decision at UFC 245 on December 14, 2019. Moreno will meet Jussier Formiga in Brazil on March 14, 2020, at UFC Fight Night: Oliveira vs. Lee. He won the fight by unanimous decision.

‘The Assassin Baby’

Brandon Moreno defeated Brandon Royval in UFC 255 by using technical knockout punches. The event took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 21, 2020. ‘The Assassin Baby’ fought for the UFC flyweight championship against Deiveson Figueiredo on December 12, 2020, at UFC 256 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight finished in a draw, allowing Figueiredo to keep his flyweight title.

Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo 2 was the second UFC flyweight championship fight, held on June 12, 2021, at UFC 263. Moreno won the flyweight title after submitting Figueiredo through a rear naked choke in the third round. Moreno lost his UFC flyweight championship to Deiveson Figueiredo on January 22, 2022, at UFC 270. Figueiredo won the fight by unanimous decision.

Brandon Moreno defeated Kai Kara-France via technical knockout at UFC 277 on July 30, 2022. He won the Fight of the Night award and became the interim UFC flyweight champion.
