Alexsandro Pereira aka Alex Pereira was born on July 7, 1987. He is a former kickboxer and a professional mixed martial artist from Brazil. He is the current UFC Middleweight Champion and fights in the Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is the first and only fighter to have concurrently held Glory belts in the middleweight and light heavyweight weight classes in kickboxing.

Additionally, Pereira participated in events like SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship and It’s Showtime. He is currently rated #8 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings as of November 14, 2022. As of February 2021, Pereira was rated first in both the middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions of kickboxing.

Glory middleweight and light heavyweight champion

Pereira was the only guy to simultaneously hold both the Glory middleweight and light heavyweight belts in kickboxing. At a 2015 event dubbed Jungle Fight 82, Alex Pereira made the switch from kickboxing to mixed martial arts and lost the fight by submission.

Pereira, who previously competed in kickboxing, lost his professional mixed martial arts debut to Quemuel Ottoni via submission in 2015 at Jungle Fight 82. He proceeded in Jungle Fight, where he went on to win two fights in a row by KO and TKO over Marcelo Cruz and Marcus Vinicius Silveira. On August 10, 2018, Pereira declared he had signed a deal to compete against Diego Henrique da Silva in the Brazilian version of Dana White’s Contender Series. However, Glory refused to let Pereira compete, hence the fight was never held.

Pereira made his official debut against Thomas Powell on November 20, 2020, following reports that he had signed a deal with Legacy Fighting Alliance on October 22, 2020. He was knocked out in round one of the fight.
