After his truck flipped over in Hollywood and collided with several cars, UFC veteran Tony Ferguson was detained on suspicion of drunk driving early on Sunday, according to the police. Ferguson, a former interim lightweight champion for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, was traveling south on Wilcox Avenue at 1:47 a.m. when his Silverado collided with at least two other vehicles and rolled over near Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Ferguson allegedly refused to undergo a breathalyzer test at the scene and was subsequently detained on suspicion of drunk driving, according to her. The UFC fighter grew up in Oxnard before traveling to Michigan to work with his stepfather restoring homes for the family’s contractor company. Ferguson was a standout high school wrestler who also excelled in baseball and football. In 2008, he returned to Southern California to study martial arts.

He has stated that his life experiences aided his effectiveness as a fighter. “You know what it was that I took from all that? Not quitting,” Ferguson told the Los Angeles Times in 2017. “I learned how to finesse. Finesse is catching the baseball on the edge of your glove when you’re turning two, making the one-handed grabs and shoestring tackles by running across the field in football. And finesse is what I bring to fighting.”

Conor McGregor slams Tony Ferguson for his anti-Dana White tirade

While Conor McGregor’s relationship with the UFC hasn’t always been pleasant, “The Notorious” doesn’t appear to be on Tony Ferguson’s side. Ferguson made headlines at his UFC 274 media day visit on Wednesday, just days before his lightweight bout with Michael Chandler. “El Cucuy” used the occasion to express his frustrations against the UFC and its president, Dana White, in some respects calling them as “drug dealers.”

McGregor turned to social media a day later to respond to Ferguson’s remarks, but the post was eventually removed. It said, “Tony Ferguson, who changes representation around 4 times a year, is saying it’s someone else fault he is in the position he is in. How many bridges do you burn before you look yourself in the mirror and say “maybe it’s me that’s the issue.” “God bless you pal, I’ll say a prayer.”

Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson were once under the same management umbrella, although the latter is no longer the case. Due to the bout between Ferguson and Chandler, as well as the main event between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje for the 155-pound title, McGregor will most certainly be watching Saturday’s show at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.
