“Mighty Mouse” is already regarded as a living legend in mixed martial arts at the age of 34. Many people believe that he is one of the finest fighters to have ever laced on a pair of four-ounce gloves because of his unmatched achievements in the flyweight class.

The 11 consecutive UFC title defenses he made during his illustrious flyweight title reign from 2012 to 2016 set a record that is probably never going to be surpassed. Johnson managed to maintain his position of dominance for as long as he did despite almost anybody posing any significant threats to him.

‘Mighty Mouse’ is widely regarded as one of the quickest MMA fighters of all time. Johnson’s expertise in freestyle wrestling reveals his agility as he darts in and out of range to either score devastating double-leg takedowns or execute inside combos. After each encounter, he uses his swift feet to rapidly slip out of his opponent’s reach.

Here are three of Demetrious Johnson’s top UFC performances

1. Johnson vs Henry Cejudo (UFC 197)

Cejudo had credentials that no other Johnson rival possessed. He was a distinguished Olympic gold medalist wrestler with experience in amateur boxing. He was heralded from the beginning of his MMA career in 2013 as a future force to be reckoned with in the flyweight class.

The fact that Cejudo started his UFC career 11 months ago and went 4-0 further solidified the notion that he may be the one to ultimately depose Johnson or, at the absolute least, give the champion his first competitive battle in three years. Unfortunately, Johnson’s most difficult task ended up being one of his simplest evenings. At 2:49 in the first round, Johnson stopped Cejudo with a TKO (knees and punches).

2. Johnson vs Kyoji Horiguchi (UFC 186)

Horiguchi, a brilliant 24-year-old who had won his first four octagon bouts and exuded promise, was viewed as the most recent lamb brought to slaughter since it was believed that he wasn’t prepared to face a champion of the quality of Johnson. Although those concerns turned out to be true in the end—and in a historic way, no less—the week in Montreal was a terrifying ordeal for the flyweight GOAT. At 4:59 in Round 5, Johnson used an armbar to submit Horiguchi.

3. Johnson vs Ray Borg (UFC 216)

At 10, “Mighty Mouse” tied the record for the most straight UFC championship defenses, but then he smashed it in the most incredible manner. The invention of the “Mighty Wiz-bar” demonstrated how much better than everyone else Demetrious Johnson is at creating moves on the spot.

From round one through round five, it was complete dominance, as is typical in Demetrious Johnson fights. Johnson did something that is only seen in movies when he appeared to become tired of pounding the living daylights out of the Borg.

The challenger was scooped up by the 12-time champion in the back suplex, and in mid-air, the hold was changed to an armbar. On the fly, he switched from a suplex to an armbar. In the same manner, Johnson defeated Borg in Round Five by armbar submission.
