Ilya Ivashka tennis profile

Ilya Ivashka is a Belarusian tennis player. He is currently ranked World No. 46 in the singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), with his career-best ranking of World No. 43 which he achieved in October 2021. His game suits the quicker surfaces more than clay. The 27-year-old can operate with flat and powerful groundstrokes which gives him plenty of attacking options inside the baseline. He can strike with precision and pace off his forehand and can win points with his first serve.

The Belarusian entered the top 100 singles ranking for the first-time in 2018. He was also the first Belarusian tour-level semi-finalist since Max Mirnyi at 2005 Rotterdam. His most notable run, however, came in 2021 where he not only recorded his best Grand Slam finish but also won his first ATP title. He defeated Mikael Ymer for the 2021 Winston-Salem Open title in 56 minutes. It also made him the first player from Belarus to win an ATP Tour singles title since Max Mirnyi in 2003 at Rotterdam besides being the eighth First-Time ATP Tour Champion.

Best Grand Slam performance

2021 saw the rise of Ivashka. He was then-ranked World No.79 which helped him make his debut entry to a Grand Slam main draw at the Wimbledon. He reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career defeating Jaume Munar, Jeremy Chardy and Jordan Thompson. He had never made it past the second round of a major previously.
