The game Vegas Golden Knights vs New York Rangers will take place at the T-Mobile Arena (Las Vegas) on Wednesday, December 7 at 10:00 PM ET.
The Vegas Golden Knights are ready to begin a three-game homestand on Wednesday against the New York Rangers after becoming the first club this season to upset the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. Under former Bruins bench manager Bruce Cassidy, the 19-7-1 Golden Knights have fared admirably. They are now comfortably atop the rankings in the Western Conference. The 12-10-5 Rangers under former Vegas coach Gerard Gallant have struggled with consistency this year. They have been particularly weak on the puck’s defensive side.
The Rangers are on a two-game journey out west after rallying to defeat the St. Louis Blues 6-4 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. They’ll land in Denver as well to take on the Colorado Avalanche on Friday. The Rangers have played more games than most of the clubs they are vying with, but they are now barely outside the Eastern Conference playoff picture going into a tough slate of games on Tuesday. The Rangers have maintained the same level of offense compared to last year; more power play opportunities are leading to the same amount of goals, even if their effectiveness rate has somewhat decreased.
Bruce Cassidy must have been overjoyed to see his Golden Knights interrupt the Bruins’ record-breaking 14-game home-winning run to open this season, even though it required a shootout to do so. This came after he was dismissed by the Bruins last June. When Cassidy and his team visit The Fortress on Wednesday, might there be a letdown? Not if their boisterous fan base has anything to say about it; nonetheless, it is important to note that while Vegas is 7-5-0 at home this season, they have posted a far better 12-2-1 record away from home.
