Henrik Lundqvist is regarded by many as one of the best ice hockey goaltender to have played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on 2 March,1982 in Are Municipality, Sweden.  He started out his career in the Elitserien league for Frölunda HC on 21 September 2000 in a 4–2 loss against Brynäs IF. He bounced back and recorded his first win in the following game against the IF Björklöven, allowing one goal and stopping 18 shots while being short-handed. In 180 appearances with Frölunda, he registered a 1.96 goals against average and a .927 save percentage, leading them to four consecutive playoff appearances and winning two titles in 2003 and 2005.

He had played for the New York Rangers for 15 years joining them way back in 2005 after he left his home-team Frölunda to play in the NHL. He was named in the NHL First All-Star Team in 2012 and has been in the NHL All-Decade Second Team of 2010-19. He has won the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award two times and also the Vezina Trophy that is presented to the best goaltender of the year in NHL in 2012. He has also won the WC Best Goaltender title in 2004 and been the part of the WC All-Star Team that same year. He was also the part of the Olympic All-Star Team in 2014. Henrik Lundqvist wore the #30 jersey for the New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals.

NFL Debut Season

Henrik Lundqvist was picked up by the New York Rangers in 2005–06 as a backup to starting goaltender Kevin Weekes. He started his first game on October 8, 2005 against the New Jersey Devils, stopping 24 of 27 shots in a 3–2 overtime loss. On 13 October, he made his home debut against the Devils at the Madison Square Garden in what was his first NHL win, a 4–1 victory. He was also a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL’s best goaltender in his debut season. He was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team and also won the 2005–06 Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award.
